Middlebury- It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert E. Tyler, Sr. of Brooksville, FL
announce his peaceful passing on June 7, 2021 at the age of 82.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Miriam Tyler; children: Rachel Worster
(Kenny Paul), Robert Tyler, Jr. (Hana), Rhonda Tyler (David), Russell Kjos (Linda);
grandchildren: Paul (Brady), Adria (Scott), Elishka, Evin, Heather (Rob), Billy
(Marissa), Samuel, and Katherine; great-grandchildren: Mariam, Courtney, Alexis,
Logan, and Lyla; sister in-law: Martha Tyler; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
He will also be missed dearly by his friends at the Brooksville Frontier community
where he resided for 26 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Rachel Tyler; brother, Ken Tyler;
wife, Shirley Tyler; step-children, Cindi, Peter, Vanessa, David, Tommy, and Scott.
Robert was born in Waterbury, CT and resided in Prospect, CT with his parents. He
was a graduate and treasurer of the 1957 class at Nonnewaug Woodbury High School.
He attended the Vocational Agricultural Program under Future Farmers of America
where he worked at Parmalee Farm. He won his division in tractor-pulling for District
1 competition at Ruwet and Sibley’s in New Milford, going on to compete at the
University of Connecticut at the Vo-Ag Spring Competition. He was a lover of cars,
having worked on his Model A as a class project.
Robert resided in Maine prior to Florida retiring from Lincoln Pulp & Paper after 38
years as Fire Marshall. He was a member of the Masons, Horeb Lodge #93. While at
Brooksville Frontier Campground he worked managing the water filtration and
maintenance. He was well known to enjoy buying and restoring vehicles, traveling on
his Harley Davidson, RV camping, and he had a good laugh participating in a
clubhouse play where he lived. Robert was a loving and generous husband, father,
grandfather and friend to all that knew him.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Brooksville Health
Care Center for their care and compassion. A graveside service will be held at Middlebury Cemetery, Middlebury, CT on
Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11:00am. Waterbury Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
